Well, its not quite halfway, but close enough! I had my third chemo today. They had to put the IV in my wrist. That area is extra sensitive, and they had to poke twice and dig! I almost passed out. And here I was thinking that I was actually becoming tough.
I decided to quit working until this is over. But then I realized that its never really over. I’m getting more and more tired each day, so working and driving was getting to be too much. And I never knew how I would feel each day. I told my doctor I felt like a big baby because I didn’t feel that I could work. She made me feel better about it all, though. It was a nice boost to be told that I was pushing myself, and that it was OK to not work. And the best news! I CAN go swimming! The info packet they gave me way back when said not to swim or take baths. I figured due to burns. Well she told me I could swim. The only concern would be the marks, but with me being tattooed its OK. Woohoo!
And now for something a little different. There’s a hurricane that will hit south Texas tomorrow (they say). Me and my crazy friends…we’re excited! We’re hoping for the rain! We’re praying for rain! Of course, we’re praying for safety for the ones that will get the brunt of the storm. But, some days when I’m walking the dogs, I think I smell smoke in the woods. It is so hot and dry, I just keep waiting for the trees to combust. I remember when…after Katrina when Rita was headed this way. The evacuation was awful. We had packed up to leave, but with all the roads jammed up we decided to stay put. I know our horses might have died if we had left and got stuck. Everyone was in a panic! Rita turned and the Houston area had very little impact, relatively speaking. No rain at our house then! Some wind, but we knew we’d be all right since the animals were all sleeping just fine. =o) We spent the next few days taking water out to people, and helping people get gas. I remember on the news they showed one old man who refused to leave his home on Galveston Island. He was the only living soul there, but he said he’d take what the storm brought. It sounds like the evacuation plans are much better-for one, the state has plans!
Robin had to go out of town for work. What a terrible time! Well, not that bad. Chemo doesn’t get me until tomorrow, so I was able to take her to the airport and drive home after my treatments today. She was supposed to go to this meeting before I started. But its in Illinois, and flooding was at its peak then. Its only a few days. Our friends live across the street, so I know I’ll have someone quick if needed.
2 more chemo, 16 more radiation…one foot at a time…

3 chemo sessions down, 2 to go! Right on. I keep hearing about the hurricane about to hit Texas. Stay safe, have fun in the rain!
Just out of curiousity, did you have regular annual pap smears?
No, I missed a few years. But I went last year and it was normal.
